For the seventh year in a row the School of Health Professions Associate of Applied Science Respiratory Therapy program won the Distinguished Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credentialing Success Award. The program continues to be a standard of excellence and has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) for 10 years.
Only 17 percent of the more than 430 programs involved in this accreditation process are recognized as winners of the Distinguished RRT Credentialing Success Award. CoARC uses four criteria to determine winners. The program must:
- Have three or more years of outcome data
- Hold accreditation without a progress report
- Document RRT credentialing success of 90 percent or above
- Meet or exceed established CoARC standards for CRT credentialing, success, attrition, and job placement.
Receiving this reward shows that Dalton State’s respiratory therapy program is among the best in the nation according to CoARC’s evaluations.
Students who complete this program leave it with the necessary knowledge to go out into their field and excel.
“It is an honor to receive the award,” said Dr. Cindy Davis, director of the respiratory therapy program. “It shows that our students are well prepared to pass their board exams and become working respiratory therapists.”
